FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is being a Virtual Buzz Assistant right for you?
People that are serious about starting a home-based business and working from home join our network. This is not a get-rich-quick scheme. Our Virtual Buzz Assistants work in their own business as their own boss, contracting to a number of clients. There are many businesses that need dependable virtual marketing help. Even departments in large organizations have hired Virtual Buzz Assistants for their own projects.
Like any business, it takes time and money to start. The great thing about being a Virtual Buzz Assistant is the low start up cost. You can start very small and grow as your client base grows.
Also, if you are currently a Virtual Assistant, adding Internet Marketing specialization helps you more specifically package your skills and increase your hourly rate.
How much work will I get?
How much work you see depends on several factors. Virtual Buzz Assistants sometimes get significant work via the network, but those people check the job board every day and contact clients right away to assess the projects.
It is important that you practice buzz by marketing your own services and possibly products as well. This will help you keep your skills sharp and you will not be relying only on the network for jobs.
Should I quit my current job to work my home-based business?
The great thing about being a Virtual Buzz Assistant is the flexibility. You should keep your day job as long as possible while you build your list of clients. As with any business, it takes time to build up enough work to completely replace a steady wage and benefits.
What kind of experience or education do I need to be successful as a Virtual Buzz Assistant?
Your ability to reach particular audiences online and communicate clearly are the only requirements. However, you are running a business. You will need to be very organized, understand finances, write quotes for jobs, communicate with good grammar and spelling, etc.
Before you can begin calling yourself a Virtual Buzz Assistant, you should take the basic buzz ethics course, which is included in your membership fee. You must also be a current member of the network to call yourself a Virtual Buzz Assistant.
How do I know what buzz activities a client needs?
When a client submits a request for placement, they are asked to define clear goals. We do not contact the Virtual Buzz Assistants until the client has specified clear activities they want. You can later expand on those activities if you and the client agree.
We find that Buzz Marketing success is best achieved when we get past clients saying “I want buzz” and agree on very specific goals and tasks that will create some buzz.Once you are in the network, you will have access to courses on ways to create buzz, databases of places you can create buzz, message boards to ask questions, etc.
Will I need my own equipment?
Yes. You will need a computer and a High Speed Internet Connection. It would be unfair to charge clients for your time if you do not have a fast computer and fast connection so that you can do your work efficiently.
How do I get referrals?
Once you have joined the network and passed basic certification on Buzz Ethics, you are added to the membership email list. When we get requests from clients, we email them out to the network to find those people that are interested and available.
What if there is someone already in my area?
Virtual is virtual. Location does not matter. If someone else is in your area, you should get together over coffee with them at Starbucks and compare notes.
Do I owe any money after the membership fee is paid?
We charge a monthly membership fee. That includes most things. We may add new items in the future for extra fees, but you should have no other normal expenses.
We also recommend a lot of products and services to help you run your business better and be better at being a Virtual Buzz Assistant. All of those recommendations are optional and are not included in your membership fee.
Can I send a check for my membership fee?
No. We only use automatic monthly processing of membership dues.
How do I cancel my membership?
Send an email at least 2 days before your renewal date to admin@virtualbuzzassistant.com
How much money can I expect to make?
Ideally, you will build relationships with 5-8 clients that will pay you monthly to continue to help them create buzz and greater internet visibility. While you set your own rates, we recommend that you charge a minimum of $500 per month. Less often results in very little impact unless you are just performing simple, repetitive tasks.
Why should I join Virtual Buzz Network and not just start marketing myself?
We have years of experience running businesses and running a Buzz Marketing company. Finding new ways to create buzz and understanding best practices takes a lot of time. Our network helps you spend more time billable and less time figuring things out.
Plus, even just one new client per year will often more than cover your membership fee. Also, the title Virtual Buzz Assistant is a trademark that you cannot use unless you are an active member in our network.
Can we join as an organization or company group?
Yes. The first person is normal price and should register in the standard way. Each additional person you refer can be added to the network and will get a 50% affiliate payment via our affiliate membership.
What kind of clients can I expect to have contact me?
Very few businesses and organizations do not need buzz. We have worked with Start Up companies, Established Businesses, New Product Launches, Virtual Companies, Authors promoting their book, Speakers looking for speaking opportunities and even very large companies that need buzz support within a particular department.
We also work with Marketing Agencies, SEO Firms, Web Development Firms and more. These companies will often sub-contract Virtual Buzz Marketing services out to their clients.
How do I work out my rates?
We have more advice on how to set your rates in the network. Typically, it is more effective to work with 5-8 clients at a time so that you can really get to know products and audiences. That means you cannot take on many $100 dollar jobs.
Set your monthly revenue goal - divide by number of monthly hours you want to work - divide by number of clients you want in a month. That will be your target average rate per client. We will also cover how to work less and make more in the network.
How Should I Accept Payment?
We suggest you always get payment in advance. New clients may not be willing to pay 100% in advance, so you can negotiate a percentage. The reason you cannot get paid after the work is that many clients thing that in one month they are going to see a miracle.
Even if you create more website traffic and buzz, their product or website may not produce more sales. (We try to let them know these things in advance, but not everyone listens.)If you do not receive payment in advance and the client expected more buzz faster, you cannot easily remove the buzz you have provided.
A client has asked me to work on a commission basis, Should I?
It is up to you, but we do not recommend it for most situations. Buzz takes time and unless you are willing to work for free until the buzz takes off, this is often a bad option for you. If you would like to work on a commission basis, you can set up your own website with affiliate products and promote it. Then you will make more and you will own it.
We get these kinds of offers all the time. Usually they are someone with a business idea but little financing. We strongly suggest you avoid this kind of situation.
What should I do if negative buzz happens?
Clients should always be aware that there is a potential for negative buzz with any public promotion. Your contract should make that clear. By following the ethical guidelines, you can minimize the risk of negative buzz.
Do you provide legal documents?
We share as much as we can with you to help you get started. The documents we use are online, as well as other public legal documents that you might find useful. However, you MUST always have these reviewed by professionals to make sure they work for you in your area. The templates should just help cut your legal expenses, not eliminate them.
Do you provide project management software or CRM?
The network provides suggestions on where to get FREE CRM and Project Management tools.
